Inspired by the tropical waters and dramatic islands of Krabi, Thailand, Against the Current features a textured secluded island surrounded by resin waters fading from soft green into blue. Beneath the surface, hand painted sea life follows the flow of the water, while a single orange fish swims in the opposite direction, giving the piece its name and meaning.

The Story Behind The Piece

Inspired by the tropical beauty of Krabi, Thailand, this piece began with the idea of creating water that seemed to flow around a secluded island. The colours gradually move from soft tropical green into deeper blue, with small hand painted sea life following the movement of the water.

Among them is one small orange fish, swimming in the opposite direction.

That tiny detail became the meaning behind the entire piece. When I started ZAIG Studio, there was always that uncertainty of stepping away from what was familiar, putting my work out there and wondering what other people might think. In a way, I could see myself in that little orange fish, choosing to follow a different direction despite everything else moving the other way.

But the meaning doesn't have to be mine.

It could represent you, someone in your life who has always chosen their own path, or even the person you're trying to become. A small reminder that going against the current doesn't always mean you're going the wrong way.

Sometimes the one swimming differently is the one worth noticing.
Materials & Finish

Handcrafted using epoxy resin and a combination of textured materials to create a detailed 3D island landscape. Layers of green and blue resin form the surrounding water, while the island is built and finished by hand to create depth and natural texture.

Small marine life details are individually hand painted beneath the resin, including the signature orange fish swimming against the current. Each landscape is created by hand, so variations in colour, texture, water movement and placement will naturally occur, making every piece unique.
Delivery & Care

Delivery

Each piece is handmade to order. Please allow 1 to 3 weeks for your artwork to be created. Once complete, it will be carefully packaged and sent via tracked delivery.

Care

Gently dust using a soft, dry cloth or duster. Avoid harsh cleaning products, excess moisture and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Take care around the textured 3D elements when handling or cleaning the artwork.
